Protectahome recently completed work on an eco-project on the grounds of The University of Nottingham. The Mark Group House is being built by a construction workforce of undergraduate students studying architecture and building technology.
Designed by interdisciplinary members of the teaching staff and students, the detached eco-house consists of four bedrooms and three floors, including a basement/garage. Originally intended, built and furnished as a domestic dwelling, the Home Built Environmental Department have made the decision to convert it into their new offices.
The building is constructed with insulated concrete formwork (ICF), which is proven to be highly environmentally friendly due to the structure being insulated at construction stage. However, ICF has its flaws, one of which being that it is prone to waterproofing failure.
Protectahome were invited to visit the property when previously installed basement waterproofing failed. The three room basement was reviewed and a waterproofing design was created.
Protectahome operatives installed Newton 500 and Newton 300 product ranges to the walls and floors of the rooms, and all work qualifies for a Protectahome long term guarantee.
