Protectahome has just begun work on the East Wing of The Cathedral School, making structural repairs following signs of cracking to the extended building.
The Cathedral School in Llandaff is one with an outstanding academic reputation. Ranked top co-educational school in Wales in 2012 for GCSE success, the independent institution for boys and girls aged 3 to 18 is located in North Cardiff.
It moved to its current site, a Grade II listed building, in 1958 and in 2010 an extension was built to enhance the campus for pupils, and to allow the school to offer a long awaited sixth form.
The wing, which has been extended twice, showed no sign of distress in the later extension, however, horizontal and some vertical cracking was noted on the South and North elevations.
Protectahome operatives are currently working to isolate current and install new wall-ties in order to repair the structural defects. All work is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the new school term.
