Lynmouth’s new pavilion reopened last month, following a £1.2million rebuild project run by Exmoor National Park Authority.
The original pavilion, which was built in 1932 on the site of a coal yard, was structurally unsafe and had been in a derelict state since 2001.
Located on the spectacular Lynmouth seafront with a backdrop of the Cliff Railway, the new building includes an education and visitor centre with an audio theatre, which will show specially commissioned aerial views of Exmoor.
Demolished and rebuilt by contractors Morgan Sindall, the Pavillion project, which was completed in less than 12 months, required structural waterproofing as the building was constructed on a sloping site, with three sides of the property being earth retaining.
Protectahome were subcontracted as waterproofing design specialists for the project and began work on the pavilion in March, installing Cavity Drain Membrane to the floors and walls throughout the new building.
The redeveloped Lynmouth Pavilion opened on 17 October 2013 and is now open year round, after having been unused for many years.
