The former Royal Naval Hospital in Plymouth, constructed in 1762, is now commonly known as The Millfileds. “Glastonbury” is one of several magnificent stone buildings on the site being converted to provide luxury residential accommodation. Glastonbury is a Grade II* Listed Building. A Basement Waterproofing Solution was required that would be sympathetic to the historic structure whilst being capable of providing a dry, habitable environment suitable for domestic accommodation.

Working with the design team, Protectahome evaluated the end use performance criteria and matched the Waterproofing System to suit the site requirements, including the reversibility of the process. We designed and installed a Type C Waterproofing System which incorporated BBA certificated products from Newton Membranes. The walls and floors were treated using a combination of Newton 500 and Newton 508 Meshed Cavity Drain Membranes. Newton Basedrain perimeter drainage channel was installed around the periphery of the footprint of the four basement duplex apartments. Each apartment has its own drainage arrangement, the Basedrain discharges to four separate Newton Titan sump chambers, each containing two mains powered automatic pumps. For added peace of mind there is also a battery powered high water alarm installed in each sump chamber.
